Dear Alumni,
The Class of 2009 graduated 19 seniors this past May bringing the total graduates to 437.
Laurynn Gorski, daughter of Bill and Michelle Gorski, was the Valedictorian and Daniel Busbee, son of Mark and Angie Busbee, was the Salutatorian. Both received South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship totaling nearly $28,000 each for the next four years. Laurynn will attend Bob Jones University this fall and Daniel will attend The University of South Carolina. The Class of 2009 gave money toward the new elementary computer lab.
This year was a first for GCS. We had a graduate of a graduate! Ryan Gaskins, son of Tripp and Sharon (Shumpert) Gaskins (Class of 1988), became the first child of a graduate to receive a diploma.
The volleyball and soccer alumni vs. varsity games are scheduled this year for Tuesday, August 18. The soccer game will start at 6:30pm, with the volleyball game following at 7:45pm. This event was well attended last year, so make plans to attend and renew old acquaintances even if you do not plan to participate in the games. Again this year, there will be complimentary food for alumni and their immediate families.

Janelle Simpson got a job at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. I will be working as an intensive care nurse there.
