Music

Kindergarten Music:

Kindergarten students are full of fun and life, and they love to share that through music! Kindergarten class music is a weekly time of singing and games, as well as hands-on instruction in basic music knowledge through rhythm instruments and movement. Kindergarten students share their music abilities in programs such as Grandparents’ Day, Christmas Concert, and an end-of-the-year Graduation Program.

Elementary Music:

Lower elementary students participate in weekly class music as well as combined choir practice. Students are taught basic music theory knowledge as well as healthy habits in singing. Upper elementary students also have a weekly choir practice but are also given the opportunity to participate in a thriving beginning band program. Performance opportunities occur year-round at programs such as Grandparents’ Day, Christmas and Spring Concerts, and, for upper elementary, a state-wide Fine Arts competition.

Junior and Senior High:

A standard of excellence in music continues through the 7th-12th grades. Junior High and Senior High Choir develop students to sing and worship their Creator with life-lasting healthy singing habits. The GCS Band program grows students in their specific instrument while also teaching teamwork and musicality. Both the GCS Choir and Band programs are nationally recognized and competitive in the SCACS and AACS yearly competitions.

Private Music Lessons:

Private music lessons are available in piano beginning in the 2nd grade. Lessons in brass, woodwind, percussion, and string instruments are available beginning in the 4th grade.
